My name is Brett Whitley. I am a freelance designer and creative with a passion for music and the outdoors. I got my start doing bootleg lot tees through my Instagram page @nothinshakinco. Since then, I have had the opportunity to travel the country selling bootleg tees on tour for bands like Widespread Panic, Phish, and Dead & Company. Currently, I am working on expanding my freelance design work, with past clients including the Grateful Dead, Dude Inn Japan, CashOrTrade, Underground Springhouse, and Teton Gravity Research.

I recently completed my Masters degree in Textiles & Merchandising at the University of Georgia, where I also got my undergrad in Marketing. My research interests focused on band merchandise, apparel design, music & subculture, culminating in my masters thesis on the history of Grateful Dead lot t-shirts. This research was presented at the Grateful Dead Studies Association event at the PCA 2023 conference in San Antonio, TX.
